are there many? i know that sutton foster left carnegie mellon, and look at her now!
anyone know of other bway stars who are still successful but didn't go to college?

I know Megan Mullaly didn't go to school for theatre, but I'm sure she went for something.

Sutton Foster quit Carnegie-Mellon after her first year.

Laura Benanti dropped out of NYU after only a few months.

Honestly? I have a Master's Degree and feel that other than being part of the criteria for my job, it does nothing for me. I really think street smarts, ambition and experience get people places.

Bernadette Peters never went to college and look where she's at today.

While it's important to get good training and experience, I don't think it's at all necessary to major in acting/musical theatre or get an MFA to succeed.

Hilary Swank- moved to L.A., took acting lessons, 2 Oscars

Gene Hackman- started studying in his 30s, amazing career.

Madonna- dropped out of college, came to NYC, the rest is history.

I think it's about talent, ambition, and luck- when preparation meets opportunity.

Did Sutton Foster go to Carnegie or Florida State? I thought I read somewhere that Hunter went to Michigan State and she went to Florida. I could be completely wrong...

Matt Morrison didnt finish college either, he left NYU and joined Footloose.

hunter went to michigan and sutton to carnegie mellon. ive never heard of the florida story
