Hello. Clueless here. I have a iMac G4 OS 10 and it seems to be running slower than it used to. Anyone have any simple suggestions as to what I might do to help it out? Maybe I should rebuild my desktop...but I don't know how to do it.

Anyone?

Do you do regular spyware checks?

i thought this being the great and powerful Apple, that it was all built in and there was no need for that. Not true?

I'm not sure, I am not familiar with Apples, but a friend of mine had some spyware issues with her apple.

Might be time to put more memory into it. Depending on what applications you are using. My iMac began running extremely slow but when I added a memory chip to it it came right back to it's lightening speed.

To rebuild the desktop with OS 9 I start or restart while holding down the option and command keys, until a message comes up asking if I want to rebuild. I'm not sure if that still applies with OS 10 or not.

Another simple operation which might help is resetting your PRam. This involves starting the computer while holding down the option, command, P and R keys. You'll hear the familiar Mac "start" chord, then a fainter version of it a few moments later. Let go of the keys after that happens. This can clear up problems caused by bugs and crashes.

I would recommend taking your computer into a service place for stuff like adding memory. The best one in NYC is Tek Serve.
