So I'm going into my senior year and I'm considering my college choices and what not. these are all for a bfa musical theatre, so does anyone see schools that I should either avoid or definitely attend? or do you have other suggestions?
Roosevelt University (Chicago)
Millikin University (Illinois)
Oklahoma City University (Oklahoma, duh!)
Marymount Manhattan (New York)
University of Michigan (Michigan)
or as last resorts:
Bethel College (South Bend, IN... I know they don't have a musical theatre program)
Ball State (Indiana)
Look into Webster Conservatory in St. Louis
There are few webster transfers in my department across the river who had nothing but bad things to say about webster. I hear Roosevelt is good, I have a friend up there.
Ooh really? Yikes. Roosevelt is a solid program. I have like 9 friends who go there for acting/musical theatre. Sean Kelley, who runs the dept is the nicest person in the entire world.
Have you looked at Ithaca College? I'm a BFA MT '12 there nd it's pretty good. A lot of our alums are working in New York right now. Aaron Tveit just finished a run in "Next to Normal" and is now doing the "Catch Me If You Can" tryout with fellow IC alum Kerry Butler. Matt Cavanaugh is Tony in "West Side Story". Jeremy Jordan is currently in "Rock of Ages". As for film Ben Feldman is on the new Lifetime series "Drop Dead Diva". This is just to name a few of our working alums.
I've heard Roosevelt is ok. I have a friend at Marymount and she's reauditioning for schools next year. I also haven't heard good things about Webster. I know two people who are transferring.
Pace is supposed it be up and coming, but I don't know much about their program. I've heard mixed things about BoCo.

You need a lot more schools to apply to, and some non-audition options. What are your grades like? Do you think you're talented enough to get into places like CMU or CCM?
You mean cookie-cutter enough? Just kidding. Well, in CCM's defense, I know they have a good program and a variety of people. CMU...not so much.
I was at the Muny auditions last year, and 90% of the girls had the same audition outfits on and looked alike. The other 10% were FIERCE though, and didn't look like anybody else.

Lol I know, I was just using them as examples of "top-tier" schools that haven't been mentioned yet.
And I noticed the same audition outfits on more than half the girls on almost every audition I've been to. Why is that?
Black bottoms/skirt, a bright top and sassy LaDucas? Its neutral, and the casting director (theoretically) can say, What about that girl in the purple shirt?
Yayyy

Yep, and about half of them get adventurous and wear a strategically-placed belt.
It's so much easier for guys
