Holland America has the best rep for food, with Celebrity. I have never been on HA, but I preferred the food on Norwegian over Celebrity. The entertainment on Norweigian is BY FAR the best.

re Karaoke, that's a good thing because I'm totally out of the loop when it comes to new music.

I'm also 17, so unfortunately I won't be able to go to the casino.

I'm sure I'll find stuff to do- I will bring a book I have to read, and I always enjoy playing cards and Scrabble with my cousins (we're all old people at heart)! re: carnival cruises

Did you mention what your destination is? Can you lounge on the deck or are you going somewhere cold?

I hope for your sake that your departing port isn't Miami - it's the worst port I've been to!

I'll be going to the Carribean, leaving from NY.
I'm also very sunburn-prone. So when I'm not in the pool, I'm indoors. re: carnival cruises

Oh neat! That must be a lot of days at sea though! (Eastern or Western Carribean?)

It's a good thing you guys are going in a large group - tours will be really cheap for you! Those cruise-organized excursions are so overpriced and I know some family friends who go in a large group and organize a tour at each port either over the Internet before they leave, or when they disembark since the buses can hold the whole lot of them, and they get GREAT deals!

I'm not sure which part of the Caribbean, but I know there are only 3 destinations, so there will be plenty of days at sea.
Usually, we will just find a local tour and go on it, instead of being "nickeled and dimed" by the cruise line.

I just got back from my cruise on the Carnival Legend from NY to San Juan, St. Thomas, and Tortola. I had a great time and it was no worse than any other cruise line. I will elaborate when I am less tired, and feel free to ask questions!

Sorry to bump an old thread, but it was either that or start a new one and have people yell at me to search, so...

Anyone want to share experiences about Royal Caribbean?

Additionally, is the 21+ drinking policy heavily enforced on ships? I would love to have a few drinks on the ship (no, I'm not looking to get wasted), but am 18 and without a fake ID.
