What IS the deal with cats chewing wires? My last cat never, EVER did such a thing.
But good ole Fenwyck chewed through one of my speaker wires in 2 different places.
I wonder if he is telling me that Wicked (the book) on CD is not something he wants to finish listening too......

Haha, Elphaba!
I also don't understand the feline fixation with chewing wires. Perhaps they just want to get to the copper inside the plastic casing because it's nice and shiny.

as long as you dont have to change his name to Sparky!
One of ours is obsessed with chewing soft plastic...he's been XRayed so many times he should glow in the dark!

Posted: 10/30/07 at 4:55pmI had to start hiding headphones, thin electrical cords, and shoelaces. I think some kitties just love them--maybe they look like some kind of vermin? she also loves bows, ribbons, receipts, and plastic bags for chewing. she didn't want to have anything to do with store bought toys. my other cat loves stuffed animals. cats are so funny.

Posted: 10/30/07 at 5:00pmI've had a few cats. One of them chewed- anything. Speaker Wires, LP covers, the corners of books. I got him some rawhide chews and that helped some. Some of them come in cat friendly flavors.

Do you all not know that you need to floss your cat's teeth? That is why they try to chew wires. You can use plain old floss, but there are some fish and chicken flavored out there that make it easier.
And this will keep them from chewing the wires.
Really.
I am not kidding.
Seriously.
Try it and tell me how it worked.
Not joking.

Sueleen.....you must have a very docile, drugged-out cat.
If I even tried that, the above would happen

Lovey likes to chew wires SOME times, but Mr. Howl likes to chew plastic shopping bags. It's weird becasue he doesn't tear it up at all, he just pokes his teeth through.
Tons of little holes, all the way aound the edges...
