Sadly, where there is a lot of money, there is usually corruption.
This story is certainly dissapointing, but not surprising.

Horrible. On this we're in agreement. I hope the UN cleans house and finds the culprits.
But.. In Iraq, we have $8.8 Billion lost to ghost payrollers and fake front vendors. We have no accounting of nearly $12B in cash that was supposedly handed out to Iraqis. We have no idea of how much money was lost, wasted or stolen as there has never been a thorough investigation. The current estimate seems absurdly low at a staggering $22B missing as those two mention could account for that amount without any further losses.
And I'm not taking you to task, Papa, but someone somewhere has to be responsible. And I'm afraid this administration will never ever even admit to, much less try to prosecute, this boondoggle.

Posted: 10/19/07 at 11:17amUnfortunatly nobody usually takes responsibility, whether its the money missing in helping rebuild New Orleans to all the money lost in Iraq. Maybe I'm being cynical , but I don't expect the UN to do any better.
