I don't think the rights are available for it.. infact I'm pretty sure they aren't.

Aqualline is saying that the rights are not available for The Lion King at this time since it is currently on Broadway. So unless you are planning on being in the show on Broadway, you will not be able to do a community or school production of The Lion King right now.

My dance teacher was is in the LA production. She is a freakin awesome dancer/ performer. She started out as a gazelle and moved up to Simba's mom, I forget her name. Anyway, her dance credits are really impressive. She is classically trained in ballet, studied modern in New York at Alvin Ailey, and numerous impressive credits. With that information, I think the style of the show calls for a dancer with a modern feel rather than a lyrical background.
