Hey I'm auditioning for The King and I and I wanted to know if anyone had any monologue ideas, I need a monologue about a minute long, but if it's longer that's fine. I'd really like the role of Tuptim. Please help me ! I can't find anything good!

Go with any young leading lady speech that is a bit earnest. Or do something really out of the ballpark like Juliet.
The larger question begs however. What kind of idiot director asks for a monologue for TUPTIM? This is not for Beatrice or Rosalind. Its The King and I. Pair up your Tuptims and your Lun Thas and have them run the scenes, scripts in hand. This is the way these things are done. Why make people crazy learning words they may never look at again? (You could use Juliet for the next 15 years at least.)
This is something to put into the back of your head. And to mention to your fellow auditioners.

Thanks so much :)
Yeah I was thinking about maybe doing some Juliet monologue or something like that
Well, for this you don't audition for a specific role, it's just you go in, sing a song, perform your monologue, the end. So I'm essentially auditioning for every female (or you know, if we're switching it up, male) role in the show.
This is only our high school production, usually the director has you do a cold reading, but for some reason I guess he doesn't want to do that for this one...He's weird, whatever haha.
Thanks for the help :)
PS jk about the male role thing haha
