downloading movies

This may be a stupid question, but I've tried to research it. I will have a long commute this summer, so have looked into online movies and wonder:

If I purchase a film from, say, Movielink, can I then burn it to dvd? It costs 20 bucks, so I imagine so...but I just want to know fer sher.

As long as you don't distribute it, it should be all right, I imagine.

re: downloading movies

I would think so, but I do not know for sure. To continue what shiksa said, The Betamax case of 1984 says that it is legal to make individual copies but only for personal use. So technically it is illegal to show it to a friend, but who can stop you? Well that's what I think but I am not definite.
