Okay, let's get one thing straight. I'm an arts girl through and through. My highschool phys ed credits were earned by the insane amount of hours I danced outside of school and OAC (grade 13) kinesiology. You'll never catch me on a field and I haven't played baseball since grade 8.
BUUUUUT
My university is huge on the school spirit, and therefore, huge on sporting events. I've been to a football game, a hockey game, and last night- I lost my basketball virginity (my housemate dances at half time and I had to go see her before the season was over).
The funny thing is- I HAD A GREAT TIME! It's such a riot, even though I have no idea what is going on (I have some idea with hockey, I'm Canadian, it's in our blood) it's just fun to watch. It's even better when the games are tight, you can't help but feel the competitive edge.
At every game there are the groupies who come painted with pots and pans and pylons-as-megaphones to psych out the other team. They were there last night in full force and even got some of the 10-year-old townie kids banging pipes along with them.
It was just a really fun night out, and gave me a really good sense of school spirit. I'm not a sports fan (except for hockey, but they went and killed the damn NHL), and never will be, but going out to a live sporting event is guaranteed fun!
Seeing it live is so much better than watching on t.v. Glad you had such a good time!

hehe why the stupid grin DGrant?
I have a confession to make. I love hockey fights. My university is in Kingston, and we road-tripped to Montreal last year for the "Kill McGill" hockey game. We killed them all right. The security made all of the Queen's students leave 10 minutes early, becuase we were winning 5-1, and apparently the Montrealers will start a riot at the drop of a hat.
So much fun.
Even better with beer. Hockey games are the only time I will drink Molson.
JID, I grew up in Boston. I remember hockey before the NHL instituted the so called "3rd man in rule" . The benches would empty. The Boston team was notorious for HUGE fights!

JID - you're so FUNNY in your youthfulness
Actually, I LOVE watching those little old men play lawn bowling - they're so funny when they get into arguements - I keep expecting a hockey moment to erupt!

Could you even imagine- grandpa throwing a lawn bowling ball at Uncle Jimmy?
THAT would be better than any hockey fight!
