The only reason Joe Biden got the Veep job was that Barack and Hillary and Michelle sat down and decided they had to throw a sop to Stupid Straight White Men.
You see, Stupid Straight White Men had been running the country for so long--and doing such a bang-up job of it!--that Barack and Hillary and Michelle thought if they placed another Stupid Straight White Man in the position of Vice President, in the grand tradition of Dan Quayle, it might make other Stupid Straight White Men--especially Republicans--feel better.

not being a stupid straight white man - i'm smart! not like everybody says... like dumb... i'm smart and i want respect! - i am clearly not the target audience.
i would say that it was more a sop to morons in general.
stupidity has no skin color, sexuality or gender, despite paljoey's desire to demonize the stupid straight white men of the word, thus stoking division in america at a time when we should all be standing together to refute the failed ideology of totalitarianism.
