I hate to be that guy... but...

Ok... So I've chosen Wes' Act 1 closer monologue from "The Left Hand Singing." and "Sara Lee" by Kander and Ebb.

now I need pieces to contrast those... I need a ballad/not uptempo song... preferably in the angry/sad/semi-romantic acting piece for my second piece... I'm a bari-tenor, by the way... low F to a high A. For the monologue, I'm looking for something completely opposite of a young Idealistic pro-Civil Rights movement Southern boy in the 1960's talking about how his mother delt with the death of his brother in the war by playng piano... it's intense and emotional... I'm looking for comedic, something less "young wide-eyed kid" just a different character... even verging on cinical... I just... have been looking for months... and have a few song options, but can't find any monologues to fit that criteria...

help? Thanks, kids.

that's a really big mic...

you should sing "why God, Why"- Miss Saigon, it's perfect for the character search you want...it's angry, sad and romantic all at the same time

also you can sing "Take Me as I am" from jekyll and Hyde

good luck to ya
