i just came from the STRANGERS WITH CANDY screening
& IT IS SOOOO WONDERFUL!!!!
i dont want to give anything away BUT ITS THE FEEL-GOOD MOVIE OF THE SUMMER!!!!
yes, some lines are recycled from the original show, but it was like hearing from an old friend again!
& wait til you see how gorgeous Tammi Littlenut (Maria Thayer) is in her science-fair outfit!!!!!
Sara Blank (Deborah Rush) is featured throughout & got a lot of applause when her name flashed on screen!
i have to make my own *FIG NEUTRONS* shirt asap!
& this is the only exchange that i will tell you about, because to me, it was the funniest line of the whole movie...& i dont know why, but it made me HOWL!!!

I was just very proud of everyone involved, & JERRIBLANK.COM is thanked in the credits (i heard a kid behind me say "jerriblank.com, thats that guys website!")
after the film, paul dinello & amy sedaris did a q&a, amy looking very pretty in a summer print dress & paul looking handsome & fit in a black & red ensemble.
amy was very jokey; she seemd to feel very comfortable & relaxed with this audience & she lovingly picked on paul. she hammed it up & mugged all night. it was wonderful!
some interesting stories: a scene that seems very small with ian holm ("SIR ian holm!", corrected amy) was actual pivotal to the filming (i'll explain more later).
an audience member asked if they knew of anyone who had been offended by the show & they said, "ORLANDO!". they said that he had come to them crying & begged them not to make filipino jokes anymore...which just spurred them on to do more. they didnt say that that was why he's not in the movie, they just said he "wasnt interested"...but i inferred that it had something to do with it.
there was some trouble shooting the footage that is used for the opening scenes, because amy had just had dental surgery & wasnt able to actualy make her jerri face @ the time...though they didnt realize it until after shooting. so they had to edit it a little "creatively". i think those edits give the film a slow start, but the scenes are still funny!
again, i'll say more after you've all had the chance to see it.
as a final note...i have a friend who made fun of me coz i started crying & clapping when The Googleman's terrier wins in BEST IN SHOW...& i did the same thing in this movie!!! just overcome by happiness & joy that good things were happening for characters that i cared about!! I was clapping & hooting (& honestly, getting a little bit teary-eyed) for the FIG NEUTRONS!!!!!!!

that f'n rocks! I cant wait to see it- my friends saw it in LA at a screening more than a year ago. Its taken so long for this to come out.
I did a painting of Jerri that I never finished- but I should take a pic of it and up-load it.

I'm really glad to hear this, n69n. I loved this show so much back in the day and can't wait to see the movie.
I was a bit worried because advance word has been a bit disheartening, but I'm sure it's just a case of this type of movie not being able to please everyone (Like SCHIZOPOLIS, which you all must see!).

Amy Sedaris is CRAZY! I love her, I saw her on Dave Letterman or something once, and she was wild! I've read most of her brother David Sedaris' books (soooo funny), so it's funny to see how right he was in describing her.
And SWC also has Stephen Colbert! How can you go wrong?

i love STRANGERS WITH CANDY coz its the first time i ever saw people like me on the teevee!!!
& the same thing with the movie; i realized that part of what made me get weepy is that *FINALLY* theres a "feel-good" movie for me!!!
