No -- I haven't yet figured out how to work GarageBand, and am not the least bit frustrated. Meaning its not something I need, even though it came on my MacBook.
I wouldn't pay extra for it, but Garageband (and possibly iWeb) might be on the CD that came with your computer.

I played with GarageBand once and it made a funny sound. So, suffice it to say, it is no longer a widget.
Well, I like to record myself singing and all that is available for Macs is "Audacity" (which sucks big time). That is why I thought about giving Garageband a try.
Heidi . . . the only think that came with my computer is iPhoto and iMovie.
Apple must have switched things around. When I got my laptop garage band (and even iPhoto) weren't installed, but they were on the CD that came with the laptop.
When did you get yours? I got mine in 2003 or 4.
Mine would have been about the same time. If I recall, I had to download a program to search through the software available on the CDs that came with the computer - unfortunately, I can't remember what program it was.
how can I check my software cd that came with my computer, without rebooting everything and wiping out my system?
Alright, I was playing around a bit, and it seems like you'll want to do this:
1. Turn on computer
2. Insert the second disc that came with your comp
3. On the "Go" menu of your make, select "Go to the folder"
4. Type in "/Volumes/Restore DVD/.images" (if the DVD is named something different, replace "Restore DVD" with the name)
5. There should be at least two files there, Open "GB.dmg". That should install garage band (since garage band is already installed on my computer, I can't verify this last step).
If you run into any trouble, PM me and I can try to troubleshoot some more.
