Posted: 1/12/05 at 9:40amMine only gets about five and a half hours of charge- is this normal? It's advertised as being eight but I've heard from a couple of other people that their batteries don't work well either and I'm curious to know if iPods usually live up to the standard.

If you use the backlight, it take up a huge portion of your battery.
I can't help you past that.....

Mines supposed to be good for upto 12, it varies though on how long it actually works.. From what I understand after a while the batteries start to loose their ability to hold a charge, then you have to send them in to have it replaced..

Yikes, Judy.
I don't use the backlight and 5.5 seems pretty bad... hopefully the folks at Apple will give me a new battery, it's still under warrenty.

Posted: 1/12/05 at 2:51pmWOW Judy, that's insane. I have a regular iPod and commuting I can get a few days out of it... it's 2 1/2 hours of commuting each day, walking around NYC with it on for at least an hour a day and then sometimes using it at home also. I pretty much get 10 hours out of it, but I use 'skip' a lot to search through my songs, which like the backlight, eats up your battery's charge.

Has anyone tried to squeeze a replacement out of the manufacturers or do they just not do that?
Didn't know that about skipping, CJR. Thanks.
