So, they seem to have discontinued my 8GB Zen MicroPhoto, and I'm being forced to get something with the same price, which means less space. It's a choice between the 2GB iPod nano, or a 2GB Samsung. Does anyone have any recommendations as to which one I should get?
I have an Ipod 30G Video and I don't like it. My Ipod always freezes and this one time when I plugged it into the computer it deleted almost all my songs.
I don't know anything about the Samsung mp3 player but I know I really don't like my Ipod
I have the 2GB nano and its been good to me. It has on average an 8-10 hour battery life which is ok for me since I usually don't listen to it hours at a time.

I'd get the nano.
ONE NOTE HERE - wait until after next week Aug 7 '06. Apple has it's developer conference and they sometimes announce upgraded or new products.

iPods are easy to use and so is iTunes. You cannot however use Windows Media Player or any other software other than iTunes to load songs onto the iPod. All you need to know is on apple.com/iTunes&iPods
SMILES - it seems maybe you have your settings to automatically manage songs, you should ALWAYS have your preference settings to MANUAL so you can control what gets loaded from your iTunes library and playlists to the iPod.
Most important.... back up your songs on an external hard drive or burn CD's. Once a song you downloaded is deleted off computer - it's gone. (Although there is sofware that can "rip" songs off an iPod back onto the computer and some data recovery software too, but why take the chance.)
Well actually...you can readily access the music files on your ipod without additional software. The only downside is that it won't be organized in a logical manner...but it's not such a bad thing if your computer dies, and all the music you have left is on your ipod...

Dancing, I cannot speak to your models, but I have purchased a Samsung and a Nano this month for the kids. The Samsung was much cheaper and I have used it on the train to work. I like it. It is more compact. The nano is used by my daughter. It is a status symbol and the accessories are a freaking rip off!!!!!
I have a 20GB iPod, and love it, but I saw my friend's Samsung player the other day, (he has the YP-Z5F model, which comes in 2GB/4GB memory, so that's probably what you're looking at) and even though I still prefer the iPod's look, the Samsung player seems really nice. It's got a really nice interface, is very light, and the battery lasts for about 36 hours or so. And he told me he's very happy with it, and he's very picky, so...
.
So I actually went to Best Buy today and looked around,a nd I think I'm going to get the nano. Thanks everyone.
Well, my mp3 player somehow managed to get chipped, so I don't know if they're going let me exchange it for anythng now.
