mine lasts a long time, but goes quicker when i watch a video.
i usually charge it every night or every other night to give it a full charge and use it durring the day.
no... the wall charger is the only way i charge it.

Just got mine and like every ipod I have had the battery doesn't know when it is low or not. I was watching a video on it yesterday on my flight home and it kept saying I was almost dead when the color turns red. Then a few minutes later when I listened to music I was back in green. So then I decided to watch more and i was watching for a little bit and when I go back to see my battery its in green still. I had this problem with my mini but my battery when watching videos is pretty short also when you dont need to dont put on the backlight. It sucks so much battery out of it.

If you want a long battery time for it, go to settings and adjust the backlight to only 2 or 5 seconds. The 15 or 20 second backlight will eat up the battery power.
Yeah, the backlight really drains the ipod battery. I usually find that the battery last longer when I listen to songs without fast forwarding or rewinding, which kinda sucks because I like to listen to certain parts of songs over and over

Someone told me you have to buy software to convert video files. In other words, you can't just put wmv, avi, etc files directly on to your iPod. Is that true? What software do you guys use?
Mine lasts a good amount of time. I charge mine evry night. It does die down a tiny bit more when you watch movies and such, but not so much that you have to charge it right away. It's a very good iPod (mine, at least). I would recomend it to anyone. (Except to a very little kid who will lose it in 10-15 minutes).

I'm a little confused - I downloaded Videora but it seems to be a Kazaa-type file sharing program. I already have the video files I want to put on my iPod, they're just not in the right format. I have Quicktime, which LilMiz mentioned, but it's the free version that came with iTunes. What am I missing?
What do you mean the normal way? Do you mean downloading them from iTunes? Is there any way to put videos on my iPod, that is, videos I already had on my computer that were not downloaded from iTunes, without buying additional software to convert them? It's looking more and more like that's not the case.
Yeah, that's what I thought you meant. On the Apple website it says it is possible to convert files using Quicktime, but it's the version you have to buy (as opposed to the free version that comes with iTunes). I know there are other conversion programs besides Quicktime, I was just wondering if any of them were free....guess not.
