iTunes help, please! (automatic importing)

I just had to reformat my computer, and I reloaded iTunes. For the first batch of music that I loaded from my backup discs, iTunes loaded it automatically. But it's not doing that for the rest of my music. I can't find the setting that you can use to tell iTunes to find all compatible files on the computer and put them into the library automatically, and the help function is being of no use whatsoever. Can someone tell me how to get it to do that? I know there's a way to get it to look for music files and automatically add them. I just can't find it!

I'm gunna look to see if I can help right now. Hang on a minute. Did you try looking what's under the importing tab on prefernces yet? I'm not positive what you are asking either. Trying to import? Is that what you want?

I've been looking... I called Apple, too, and they said they don't think such a feature exists. *shrug*
