independent films on dvd

here's a random question: can you buy copies of independent films (dvds) when they are out of the theaters? i mean, i know you can get many titles at the video store, but i'm dying to see half nelson (and many others) and was wondering if it will come out on dvd.

most indies DO show up on dvd these days ... including some that shouldn't!
