... to protect my security.
I just got a little bar below the address bar that said that, what does it mean? What content am I blocked from, why and how?

I think it's because ceratin is poisonous
Pop-up blocker, maybe?
Ceratin IS poisonous. One time, in summer stock, I had the job of drinking the star's tea first because she had been threatened with ceratin poisoning. It was scary!

Nope, my PMs work fine.
I mean non-BWW pop-ups. My blocker is designed to allow pop-ups that are related to sites I've modified the preferences on, but I still don't see those obnoxious pop-up ads that are all over the internet.
I've gotten that message before, and that's all it was. Probably is the same.

drop IE and install FireFox...it's safer and works for everything. IE has too many security flaws and will always find a way to get spyware and other crap on your computer. FireFox is safe and has these cool tab things so you just right click on links and a new tab opens up within the same window and then you can have multiple webpages open without having complete new windows for each one.

Thanks, but what does that message mean?

Next time it comes up, try clicking on it. Often times, clicking on the box will show you what's the matter.
And, emcee (and everyone else that can install it), I highly suggest Firefox, like tristarr says. Absolutely no pop-up ads, and the tabbed browsing is very neat. I hate to sound like a Firefox shill, but its excellent lol.
Get Firefox now!
My roommate has that thing and LOVES it. Maybe I should check it out.

timote, I don't even speak the language that the explanation is written in.
Now the site says I need to install ActiveX control from macromedia inc... what does that mean? Gah. Will I be blocked from this site without that program or something?
that little pop up from IE was done to protect you!
certain sites use ActiveX controls to run and the IE explorer bar that showed up was giving you the option to install the ActiveX control that runs on the site (so that the ads that are on the site show up onthe page properly) it really has nothing to do with Spyware at all.

So what kind of program is it? I have macromedia flash, is this some kind of extension? What am I doing by installing it? Google has seriously confused me on this..
it's an extension and it won't harm your pc and it wont install spyware on your pc if you choose to accept it.
nia - correct me if this is wrong, but you want to know if you'll be okay *without* it, right?

Right, Emcee. I'd prefer not to install any kind of program if possible. What does this do and is there a way I can stop getting these notifications?
And thanks anyway, Marquise.
Alright, give me a bit. I'll poke at some of my friends for help. I probably won't have any kind of information for a few hours, but IM me when you get on.
I've been having the SAME problem for a month. It's progressively getting worse and worse. Now I can't even access the official Rent site, my online Webshots photo album, and various other random pages I've always been able to access. I tried turing off my pop-up blocker but I just got a load of adds that won't go away now, even though my blocker is back on. *SO* frusterating. I'm checking out this fox thing...

Nightlaughs, I finally figured it out. I know that you can't get to the rent site without a Flash Plugin and the thing I mentioned before is part of that. DL and install, (it's REALLY quick) and you're good to go. I think.
ETA- how do you keep stuff from being blocked and what kinds of things can you not access on bww?

I have had this problem with this site for a couple of months now. It was previously ok but without warning I started to get a message "bad error". This doesn't happen on any other site, is this related to what you are talking about? I use Internet Explorer.

Weird... I got the program and nothing odd is popping up now. Do you have the ActiveX thing?
No. I'm not at home at present.Using a work computer here.I only have the problem with Broadwayworld.

Odd. Try the program and see if it helps. If not, PM Rob and ask.
Will do. Thanks.
Get Firefox now!
It's amazing, I have never been able to use this site without wanting to gouge my eyes out on IE. This is so much better!!
