Welcome to the new alternative universe of the 2008 elections. Yes, the country's in economic freefall, with houses and jobs lost (6.1 % highest in 5 years), the stocks plunging again. But we've fallen in love with a mediocrity from a sparsely populated state singrularly devoid of specific ideas, plans, policy or demonstrated wisdom -- just hard right ideology and a "narrative" about keeping babies.

The "narrative" is making me crazy. It's Bristol Palin's right to have her baby, to keep her baby and do whatever the hell she wants (or is being forced to do--not my business). It DOESN'T, however, make her a hero. Come on.

In your breathless need to spew hate all over the place, you forgot to fill in all the details.
July's rate was 5.7%. A jump from 5.7% to 6.1% is not huge.
Furthermore, workers saw wage gains in August (see article).
Since this is the highest jump in 5 years, it shows that the Bush economic plans worked.
Additionally both 5.7% and 6.1% percent are still lower than the Clinton years.

Not to mention that is has nothing to do with Sarah's qualifications as VP. Now if Sarah were a fetus-eater or something, that would be a little different. But I don't give a crap about what her daughter does or doesn't do.

Goth let me explain "Republican spin" to you- if by "the Clinton years" you mean the very start of his term, yes, unemployment was higher then. However, within 2 years, Clinton had dropped the unemployment rate 30% from when he took over and it never again reached anything close to the highs left to him by his predecessor. Likewise, Bush iherited excellent numbers and proceeded to make them worse. Another point to remember is the 10.4 million jobs that had been created under Clinton compared to the 1 million jobs lost under Bush.
