reading scary stories my bro's gf had her 4th graders write, i came across this intro for a story called "evil insect" (grammar and spelling errors included):
"Once upon a time their was a evil ant. He liked cheease, bacon, and world domination."
oh man... kids are a riot... i just really wanted to share that :P
That's absolutely the cutest thing I've read all day!
I have got to work with kids at one point in my life.
oh man, there's nothing better than doing it. i love going into the classroom and seeing all of mine... they definitely have a way of making the day so much better

I worked at a day care center for a few years, with 3 and 4-year-olds. That's one of the nicest ages for taking care of children- they don't need have their diapers changed anymore, but they're still small enough to just pick up when they're making trouble. :)
i can't go that young with kids... i think i'd go nuts after a while. i really have to say good stuff about the middle schoolers... they have a bad rep of being complete brats and all, but to tell you the truth, they are so cool. they are at the age where you can joke around with them, but they're still kids. i don't know what i'm gonna do when i'm done with my 6th graders in december... i really am gonna cry!! i've gotten so attached to them!! then i go onto 5th grade, and 2 months after that, 2nd grade. i'll love them all i'm sure. kids are just SO GREAT
!!!
another reason i love them: i walked into the classroom the tues after my bday (which was on a sat) and there was a sign taped to the board that said "HAPPY BDAY MR. RZEPKA!!! Love your sixth grade homeroom" and they all signed it. then later in 1 of the social studies classes, 1 of the girls brought in those chocolate chip/peanut butter squares that she baked herself to celebrate. she decorated the box with happy bday written all over it and "Mr. Rzepka ROCKS!!!"... and this was only a month after school started. oh man, they are so great
awww thank you so much undiscovered... it means alot
it's REALLY weird to be called "Mr." i have adjusted to it, but to think that i'm only 21 and i have a sister who is only 3 years older than them... and then you get the girls who have crushes... all you can do is laugh it all off :P
Yes, I agree... children are wonderful.
Eeeeeep.

I totally agree! I adore kids. My boyfriend is actually working toward his teaching degree. Between me doing musical theatre, and him teaching, we're going to be poor! But hopefully happy - which is more important to us! My 3 year old cousin is like one of my fav people and last week my mom was giving her princess fruit snacks and she told her "aunt donna, i have a princess in my heart" tell me thats not the cutest thing you've ever heard?!? shes REALLy into the whole disney princess phenomenon

awweeee! That's adorable. YAY Zepka!
if i were a teacher, i would ask the children to call me master.
but i have a phobia of people under 5 feet, so i don't think that would happen. zep, babe, i bet you're gonna be one awesome teacher. i wish i had someone so enthusiastic when i was a youngster.
best of luck

Zepka's theme song is "Hot For teacher". Those who have seen his picture will understand.

My job is to be with a child all day and it is one of the most gratifying (sp?) jobs you can have. Also one of the hardest but I love it! My baby is 10 months old today and just learning some new words and he is SO funny about everything.

My summer job is working with children in theater day camps. It's such fun. They're great, and they have so much fun doing it. The only thing I don't like is casting the shows. I used to do the camps when I was little, and as much as I realize now how much it doesn't matter, I know it meant a lot to me then. The shows I direct are pretty even though for the most part. A couple of the older kids have real roles, and everyone else is about even.
They don't call me Mrs. or anything, but as soon as we pull out costumes, they start calling me by the character name. All week I'm Jessica, and then all of a sudden when I put the costume on, I'm "scarecrow."
Haha, I just remembered a crazy story. The night before we were casting for "The Wizard of Oz" I dreamed that I left the room for a minute during the auditions, and they cast the whole show without me and all the leads (which was my group to work with) were 5 year-olds. I could barely pull it off with the 12 year-olds I had (we only rehearse for a week, and it's a one-hour musical). I can't imagine trying to do it with 5 year-old leads.
