The lead is a baritone right? Because this year I'm really busting my ass to get the lead in the show! And there's this one guy who ALWAYS always gets the leads. But he's a tenor and has a popish style voice. And I just feel that this musical is set up for me in a way because it's more my style of singing, and it's right in my range. But everyone thinks that this one guy will get the lead again.....because EVERYONE worships him and he's always the best, he's the only one who could ever play the lead. And the thing that bugs me is that no one has any faith in the other 2 baritones at our school. I mean this guy who always gets the lead is a tenor and he wants the baritone lead. And i've heard him try to sing low and he can't sing low. And everyone thinks the directors will raise the key up for him just so he can get the lead! And i'm not trying to sound like I hate him because he is talentd it's just give someone else a chance for once. Because we have alot of talent at our school who is just as good as he is. And the other thing I hate is that i'm always compared to him i'm always second best to him. Which isn't a big deal normally for me but all of a sudden i just really want this part soooo bad. Sorry for my rant/question!

BEST SHOW EVER!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, the lead (Fred) is a HUGE baritone, and is my dream role.
Your tenor friend will get the second lead (Bill), if he can dance.
Do whatever it takes to get this incredible part, you won't regret it and I will be jealous.
BELIEVE ME I WILL!!!!! I mean we don't get music until after christmas break. But I JUST WANT THIS! More than any other role i've auditioned for! It just makes me mad how this guy wants the lead and he can't even sing that low...he says he can but he can't, I mean he's a high tenor. And he doesn't want the role of Bill because Bill supposedly doesn't even have a solo song or whatever. But yeah I just hope I get it!

Bill is actually a huge role, and has a solo song (Bianca), as well as many parts in other songs.
Yeah Bill is a good role, so it wouldn't be a terrible thing to get that part...Break a leg! I hope you get the part. It's a great role. I also know how it feels to be talented but not top dog in the department, and it sucks. I was in a similar situation one year but I was just PERFECT for the lead, and I got it. The favorite guy got a really good part as well, and it all worked out. Sooooo good luck!

When's your audition?
Good Luck!
after christmas break! Like the week we get back we're learing songs and the dance portion and then like 2 days after that the juniors and seniors audition and then the sophmores and freshman audition the day after us.
I was listening to Kiss Me Kate in my car last night. I love that show.
I know how it feels to watch the same person (or people) get cast over and over again. Break a leg!
Well actually after listening to a few songs from the show i don't think I want fred anymore! I really want BILL!! Because he gets to sing and dance in all the big dance numbers and personally I feel that it's a more memorable role. And it's a character actor kind of part. And I'm a character actor! I'm just hoping the other guy gets the lead and they raise the key up for him because I want this part and it's right in my range!
When you audition, do they ask you what part you want? In my school you only have a sense of what role you're going for at the callbacks. Well, break a leg!
I was just watching Kiss Me Kate on great performances last night, I LOVE that show... I REALLY want to do it next year for the winter musical (it's wierd out school does muscicals right before the break)
Well normally they have vocal selections picked out already. So if you want Fred you take the fred piece same with the other leads. But I don't know if they would have anything for Bill.
