anyone else read her books? i looooooooove the anita blake series, and her merry gentry series isn't far behind either. she has a talent for making the guys very attractive. but yeah, just finished a stroke of midnight. it was good. read it in a day. opinions? anyone?
Loved early Anita Blake stuff.
Then it became soft-core porn and got really boring.
But the original stuff and the world itself (and the powers Anita possesses and those of the vampires) is pretty cool.
yeah, i know. the last anita one was about nathaniel though... lol. have you read the merry series?
Merry is the half fairy? I have not. I got frustrated with Anne Rice for the same reasons I stopped reading Hamilton: the focus of the books was more on the soft-core imagery and I would rather just buy a book with Fabio on the cover if I'm looking for that.
yeah, merry's the half fairy. fabio? yuck. wait... what anne rice stuff was focused on soft core (besides the sleeping beauty trilogy)? her vampires can't have sex.
But it's all homo-erotic...which, while I would normally appreciate, it's just not why I read, especially fantasy novels.
I might have to read the Merry stuff. Is it all soft-core too?
And we can't be the only two people on this board who have read Hamilton.
not all, but the point is for her to get pregnant before her cousin can get someone pregnant, so she's queen instead of him being king... so there IS sex... but it's there from the begining as opposed to anita, where in the first books she wouldn't do anything, and then she's constantly on her back in the later ones. so yeah, i dunno, i like em, they're entertaining, especially compared to what i've had to read the past couple semesters.
Huge bump, because the new Anita book (The Harlequin) comes out next week.
I must say, I'm rather excited. I liked the books better before they became soft-core porn, but I'm still addicted. I'm especially interested to see what comes of the lion storyline, because as bad-news as he was, I liked Haven. Maybe it was the blue hair.
Thoughts?
i can't wait for it either. but i just read the new kim harrison one (for a few demons more) and i'm reading kelley armstrong's new one (no humans involved), and i just got a couple others, so hopefully i'll have enough reading material to hold me over til the new anita book. and a lick of frost comes out in the fall... can't wait for that one either.
