anyone know of a recipe that has a graham cracker crust bottom, layers of chocolate, french vanilla pudding and whipped cream?
i am trying to remember it from my childhood, can't find anything close when i google it.

I thought trifle usually involved layers of cake, not a graham cracker crust.
The description sounds vaguely (though not exactly) like an eclair cake to me.

Sounds like a dessert called "Sex In A Bowl". As you would expect, there are a lot of variations...google it.
Yummy!

Sounds like the "ice box cake" my Monster-In-Law makes for EVERY holiday.
Place a graham cracker square on a plate. Mix whipped cream with Hershey's chocolate syrup. Spread some over the cracker. Repeat until you have a 10" tall tower of the stuff. Tip the tower over on its side and frost the whole thing with the chocolate whipped cream. Let it sit overnight in the refrigerator. The crackers absorb the whipped cream and...yeah, I know. I'm a lucky guy.

Posted: 2/28/09 at 12:56amHave you thought of checking Cool Whip's, or Jello Pudding's, or Keebler's (Graham Cracker Crust) websites for a recipe that sounds like what you're looking for?

artscallion - I remember my mom telling me about her favorite 'cravings' desert when she was carrying my little brother and sister. She'd take an Oreo cookie and top it with cool whip, another Oreo, more cool whip, and on and on until she had a tower. Then she'd smear more cool whip all over the sides and top. Loosely wrap plastic over it and refrigerate over night. The next day you could eat it with a fork. She said it took her a year and half after the kids were born to get her figure back after eating all these!
BACK TO YOUR QUESTION - Maybe one of these recipes is what you're looking for?

I used to have a recipe like this from a church cookbook. Only this version was called Robert Redford Delight.
I no longer have the recipe because my housemate mistakenly threw out the cookbook, but from memory it went something like this...
Bottom crust - finely chopped walnuts mixed with flour and butter in a food processor, pressed into a buttered square pan and baked til light gold.
First layer - cream cheese beaten with confectioners sugar
Second layer - chocolate pudding
Third layer - vanilla pudding
Fourth layer - Cool Whip
Garnish - shredded coconut or shaved chocolate bar
It was my favorite for a long time - I used to beg to have it instead of birthday cake.
I don't like pre-made, processed stuff like instant pudding or Cool Whip. So I eventually tweaked the recipe and made all the layers from scratch. Sometimes, I'd change the pudding flavors or add sliced bananas between layers.
It's insanely sweet so it's the sort of dessert you can only eat a little bit at a time.
