Well Worlds are in March so it's a rebroadcast of something.

The Worlds showing is a rebroadcast of last year's event
Campbell's was decent. ABC ticks me off with their coverage. So much fluff, so little substance.

yes, abc's coverage was typically lacking. they were on the air for 2 hours, and they only showed nine 4-minute competition programs. they didn't even show the men who placed 2nd and 3rd (weiss and goebel, both americans). but they showed the women warming up for 6 minutes. and all of the "waiting for the marks" time was intact, when it could have easily been edited out. we can only hope the coverage of skate america will be better.
the skating itself was rather uninspired. ok, it's early in the season yet.

I missed it. Great niece was christened today. Brunch was at my house. 30 people. 9(COUNT 'EM) 5-8 year olds. My basement was a WRECK! I cleaned, I'm stressed.
I heard that Sasha Cohen won.
woo-hoo ( I am so tired).

Posted: 10/23/05 at 3:12pmdid anyone else watch the ladies at skate america today? much better than the campbell's. ALISSA CZISNY looked especially good! she won the freeskate and placed 2nd overall to ELENA SOKOLOVA. ALISSA has a beautiful/elegant style and looks like a ballerina. wonderful improvement this year ... she's become a complete skater. YOSHIE ONDA on the other hand shows no improvmeent. she still looks like a beginner girl ... big jumps but still no style or elegance. and WHAT was she WEARING?? i would think her coach JOSE CHOUINARD (lovely to see her) would have had better taste than that.

I've been following Alissa's career for the last few years now. Glad to see she had a breakout performance at the senior level.
Hope she can challenge for the third Olympic spot. I like her style better than Meissner. She has the complete package, if only her jumps were slightly more consistent.
Emily, though, is like Sara V.20. Decent, but I don't really like choppy skating with arm waving that the Hughes girls seem so fond of doing.

Posted: 10/23/05 at 4:47pmno, i'm not impressed with EMILY HUGHES either. she was popular at nationals last year and popular here at skate america, but it's mostly because she's a hughes, i believe. when interviewed, however, EMILY spoke much more maturely than SARAH ever did, so i'll say that for her.

Emily, though, is like Sara V.20.
Emily isn't even remotely in the same class as Sarah, and I'm not even a Sarah fan. It's sad that people have this expectation of Emily, when all she has is the Hughes name. She's up and coming, but still has a ways to go...there are quite a few "up and coming" ladies who are ahead of her.

My comment that Emily was like Sara V.20 was not in an attempt to compare Emily's current skating to Sara's in 2002. However, you can definitely see a similiar style- choppy arm movements and all.
No, Emily, right now, is not at the same level Sara was at when she won in SLC (which was deserved).
I don't like either skaters' style on the ice, really.
