limewire? yes or no?

Posted: 8/27/05 at 3:08amI"m debating whether or not to get limewire or some other free downloading software, but I'm worried about viruses, all those pop ups and stuff. So I was wondering if people in general found limewire worth it or not, if it screwed up their computers, or if they knew of any better services than limewire.

It has seemed to screw up my computer every time I put Limewire on it. Weird things begin happening it seems, it like takes over. Your better of getting something like Itunes or another cheap downloading program and pay a buck or so for the music. It'll save you a lot of time trying to figuire out whats wrong with your computer.
Also, all of the "free" downloading programs seem to be the same way. One of my friends just downloaded a different one and now her computer locks up every 2 seconds...just not worth it.

You might want to download programs like SpywareBlaster, Spybot Search & Destroy, and Ad-Aware. They're all free:

Posted: 8/28/05 at 12:46amI've had pretty good luck with limewire but be careful, I know someone who was sued by them and ended up having to pay about $14,000. Needless to say, I dont use it anymore

Or you could go to a site where you pay for your music and not have to worry about it because you're doing it legally, and you're supporting the musicians who worked hard to bring you their craft, instead of taking money from them.
Just a thought.

Posted: 9/2/05 at 2:03pmThe profits made from CD selling actually rose when those file-sharing networks started to become common. Weird, but it's the truth.

Personally, I think it's okay if you download music, as long as you then buy (or already own) the CD.
That being said...Limewire is okay. Lightyears ahead of Kazaa. Bittorrent is better in some ways, though.
