music video question

Is it true that music videos are always supposed to look like what the song sounds like? Like take for example, the song "Everybody" by Backstreet Boys has very ominous synth effects, so that inspired the director to have them go with a "Thriller" feel for it all. Also, the song "I'm Going Slightly Mad" by Queen has crazy synth stuff, so you can tell in an instant that the music video was directed with a weird notion.
