i have never posted on this board before, and never really planned to, but this seemed like the best way to get the word out on a potential (i repeat...POTENTIAL) problematic work situation some of you might be tempted to pursue. on playbill.com (and likely elsewhere) a job notice has been posted looking for teachers at a new theater school in seoul, korea. they offer fabulous accomodations, all travel expenses paid...sounds like a dream, right? i just want to let you know that the school is being started by milton justice and phil fabry, who were behind last year's ill-fated korean production of bye, bye birdie. they held an extremely long audition process, all of which was filmed (and it was implied that not consenting to be filmed made it impossible for you to audition). once cast, the actors (myself included) were strung along for MONTHS, being promised contracts "soon," "just another week" and told about the fabulous accomodations we could expect as long as we didn't take any other work. needless to say, we were eventually EMAILED and told that the project had been cancelled. none of us have heard a word from the production team since. perhaps mr. milton and mr. fabry have gotten their act together since then, but i would be very wary of committing any kind of time or energy to a project attached to either of them. i will repost this on the student board as well.
