what would have seemed the height of arrogance 4 years ago when bush even commenting on the fact that he had won was tantamount to treason, is now just obama being obama.

I'm terribly sorry, but I can't get past this line without snickering:

Boehner said congressional Republicans are also concerned about the size of the package.
It doesn't really help that the guy's name is 'Boehner,' either.

Posted: 1/25/09 at 3:43pmDid he say it was a mandate? I remember that's why my biggest issue was, back in the day, that a slim margin of victory would be considered some sort of mandate. I'd feel the same if Obama said his win was a mandate.

He won? Really? So he earned political capital and he can spend it now? So elections have consequences? Really? They told us that like 43,000 times the last two elections but I guess I never really thought about it. How much did this guy win by, exactly? Was it one of those really-lost-if-you-count-all-
the-votes victories where you had to get the Supreme Court to pick you or one of those win-by-3-percentage points victories that earned the last president so much political capital?
