i got called back for once upon a mattress, and the director said to bring an upbeat song...but i know nothing about the show! any ideas about songs? im a mezzo soprano, but i have a pretty good range. thanx!

Do you know what part you want? If you're going for Fred then you'll need a big, belty number with a lot of character, if you're going for Larken, she is more of a soprano engenue (can't spell) girl, so it just depends.

i have no idea what part i want, i dont really know anything about the show. ideally i would like a song that has a bit of personality (but nothing totally rediculous) that shows off a pretty good range (i dont want to have to kill myself warming up to be able to hit any crazy notes)

I'm tone deaf so I can't help you with teh songs but the show is a take off on the story of The Princess and The Pea. Princess Fred comes to the castle to marry the Prince but the Queen gives her a test before she can marry her son (she makes the tests so hard that every previous princess has failed). Lady Larken secretly helps the Princess pass the test because she is pregnant and wants to get married but the Queen no one in the kingdom can get married until the Prince gets married.

thanx for the synopsis, v helpful, now at least i have an idea about what im getting myself into. ive nvr heard of that song, but ill check it out
