With Katrina justifiably pulling focus from world crises, it's startling to witness the latest shocking debacle in Iraq. Just when things couldn't seem more volatile, 800 people suddenly die (with 300 plus injured) in a hysteria-driven stampede. Again, eight hundred people, women, children. Hard to even fathom, isn't it? Our tragedy here is horrific, deserving of our prayers and energy. But we must try to pay close attention to the suffering across the globe. Suffering that's not exactly unrelated to our activities there.
This is a truly horrifying story. How very sad. However, even if Katrina were not the lead story right now I still believe this would not take it's place.
