Shuster's just taking the fall for Matthews and Olbermann. NBC can't touch them, so they're kneecapping Shuster. What he said was SH*TTy--and his first apology was defensive--but what the Clinton-hating Olbermann and Matthews have done is worse.
And what the Clinton-hating Olbermann and Matthews have done is nothing compared to what the average Clinton-hating commentator on Fox News does.
And what the Clinton-hating commentators on Fox News do is nothing compared to what the average Clinton-hating Obama supporter does.
All the Clinton-haters can kiss my Clinton-loving aSs, whether they're from the left or the right or the media.

I am sad to see it too.
But when the Clinton/Obama ticket goes to the polls in November, the passion the two candidates have inspired among Democrats, Independents--and even Republicans!--will sweep them to a landslide, bringing into office along with them dozens of new Democratic senators and representatives.
Meanwhile, the Huckabee/Graham ticket will attract only the 20% of the country who has, with you, nobly or ignobly stood by the failed policies of a warmongering, war-profiteering, unconstitutional regime.

if that's the ticket, they won't even attract me. i won't vote for a ticket that has huck on it.
but that's a pipe dream ticket, pj. kinda like al gore on a white horse.
even after this weekend's little temper tantrum by the gop, they'll swallow hard and nominate mccain. huck won't be able to stop it or force it to the convention and the fact that he won't drop out signals to me that he has already been told he's not getting the veep slot. all of which warms my heart. i have no idea who the veep candidate will be. probably somebody southern. maybe the sc gov. mark sanford, maybe haley barbour, maybe someone unknown.

Yeah, because that never happens on the right.
Oh wait:
Ann Coulter is equating John McCain to Hitler.
Rush hates him so much he would raise money for Clinton.
Dobson can't stand him.
He gets booed TWICE at the convention.
Yep, never happens on the right.

Unfortunately what we have today is a mixture of news and opinion. The news is presented as entertainment rather than news and the producers urge their staff to get "edgy" for ratings. News and opinion/entertainment are allowed to cross freely back and forth. Back in the day, news people had a certain gravitas and were trusted. But they now use that gravitas to push their opinions rather than report news.
Additionally, some newspeople get a free pass and others don't. If Chris Rock had made the same comment about Chelsea, nobody would have batted an eye.
In the name of freedom of the press, people get up and say whatever they want to say without repercussion. If those slags on The View were held responsible for what they say, there wouldn't be a show. But the show allows people like Joy Behar to get up and tell out and out lies and pass them off as truth.

I really don't think that people have difficulty telling the difference between the people mentioned above and the shows on which they appear:
Chris Rock - Entertainer/Standup Comedian - appears on entertainment shows
Joy Behar (and the women on The View) - Entertainers - No one can, or should, mistake The View for a news show
David Shuster - Newsman - Used to be on Fox News now on MSNBC - Both NEWS Shows

"Additionally, some newspeople get a free pass and others don't. If Chris Rock had made the same comment about Chelsea, nobody would have batted an eye."
Since when is Chris Rock a news person? You need to come up with a better analogy than that.

"No one can, or should, mistake The View for a news show"
But that's the point. They do. Look at Oprah and Barack Obama. The line between entertainment and news reporting of the poltical scene has been erased.

"Since when is Chris Rock a news person?"
I never said he was. The point is that news has now become entertainment.

"I never said he was. The point is that news has now become entertainment."
And I still say your analogy is faulty. You can't in one sentence say that "some NEWS PEOPLE get a free pass and others don't, and then use Chris Rock, in your next sentence to prove your point. It simply doesn't make sense.
It would be like me saying that some entertainers get a free pass and others don't. And then use Dick Cheney as an example of an entertainer who gets a free pass.

Sorry Goth...I'm not trying to be deliberately obtuse, but it was a two sentence paragraph.
In the first sentence you said some News People get a free pass and others don't. If you had used a news person as an example in your second sentence to illustrate, how your first sentence applies...then that would have worked, but to use someone who is not a news person to illustrate your point simply doesn't work. And it's no longer an analogy but simply a comparison of two entirely different things.
"I'm not saying Chris Rock is a news person. I'm saying that it's more difficult to determine whether a program is there for news purposes or entertainment purposes."
Then perhaps you should have used an entertainment program, and a news program to make the analogy. Say... Access Hollywood versus Meet the Press.

You've been staring too long at your avatar and it's scrambled your brain.
It's Sunday, I'm posting on a board that is 95% Broadway fangurls and it's 90 degrees in my apartment. I don't have to be grammatically correct and you can't make me.

I don't care if you say it on a news show, an ice show, a flower show, or at a country club dance...
Everyone should be accountable for what they say, anywhere. That little annoying thing called "responsibility for your words and actions." Don'tcha just HATE being an adult?!?
Shoot off your mouth, and face the consequences.
You're free to say what you want in this swell U.S. of A., and some folks get a kick out of "edgy" comments, true, and the rest of us are free to either embrace or reject you and your opinion if we feel like it. That's the risk you take, whether on a social level, personal level or political level.
Deal with it. Or don't say it.
