It's the 2 year anniversary of me and my girlfriend's first date this Friday. I want to take her absolutely amazing....something that will takes her breathe away. She likes Italian and American food mostly and I'd love to take her somewhere with an atmosphere (and good food would help too). something that would totally blow her away. Price doesn't matter, I just want to take her somewhere we have never been to and something that will impress her (I know after 2 years...maybe I shouldn't be going for impressing her and wanting to find food she will enjoy but...i'm weird I guess.)
edit: sorry two grammer errors.
anyone??
In NYC?
sorry...yes, in nyc.

Get some gourmet pasta and sauce and a bottle of wine and cook dinner. Candles, etc.
I heard Sbarro is quite dandy . . .
J/K.
Making dinner with a nice bottle of wine and candles does sound pretty nice.
wexy..
have done that recently when she had an awful day at work...i know she wants to go out so that's why i posted this...thanks for the advice though
LOL. She loves me but if I took her to Sbarro....gosh, I would even be disappointed. :)

Judging from your spelling and usage, I might suggest the MacDonald's Town House. It's truly American cuisine.
Hell, even I would be disappointed, and I don't even know you.
You know you love the 'Barro.
I really like Orso in the theatre district, but that is purely personal preference. It is Italian food, and very good, with a good chance of eating with a star, but no little of stupid tourist shenanigans. It is a little cramped though.
Also, you know you can edit out the grammatical mistakes right? (I'm just thinking about clarity in the thread title here.
)

Perhaps smartyP means Orso, which is on 46th Street between 8th & 9th. It's good, and I like it a lot too.
Another option might be Esca, on 43rd Street just west of 9th Avenue. It's Italian seafood. Very good, great wine selection. Table are spaciously placed. I had dinner there last week with 3 other people very special to me. We had a terrific time and a wonderful dinner.
To Penguin, I apologize for the mistakes...I wrote those in between messages and briefs for work...I realize I shouldn't write so quickly on a board as cruel as this (I have always not everyone on here is as courteous...very sad.) I suppose I forgot people can be so critical. I am SO sorry to those I offended with my mistakes. Sorry none of you make mistakes.
I like Mario Batali's places if money is no object. Esca, Babbo or Lupa.
I am not offended and mean nothing personal by it, but it remains the fact that instead of apologizing for your mistakes you can simply fix them.
I make plenty of mistakes including the name of the restaurant in the first post here, which I shall now go fix, thanks Jose'.
Sometimes people are too mean, but often constructive criticism can be helpful.
I was being tongue in cheek, and honest, the thread title is confusing, and it can be fixed, easily.
ETA: Note the EXTENSIVE comma spicing, and laugh
If you want to fly her out to LA for Dinner I can make a few suggestions - otherwise, well, I am sure some folks on the Board will provide you with some good suggestions.
And in defense of SP - I did not interpret him as being too critical - just letting you know there was the ability to edit posts after the fact (which I use often with all of my typing errors!)
Good Luck.
If Daniel, which I suggested earlier, is not your speed and you really want to go old school you can always go to:
The Rainbow Room
I have corrected your aforementioned corrections. So sorry to have offended you.
Please accept my apology.

Daniel is also a special place (in the same location as the former Le Cirque).
I had the distince pleasure of sharing a superb birthday lunch for two there one afternoon. We took the afternoon off and went for a late lunch. It was a luxuriously long lunch that ended as the dinner patrons were arriving. Truly a special place with exquisite food and atmosphere.
I am going to repeat this to be perfectly clear, I was simply pointing out how easy it is to fix mistakes once they are pointed out, there is nothing offensive or mean spirited about being corrected. I often have spelling mistakes. People point them out, I fix them, we move on. I meant nothing even remotely mean or negative.
I will add I think Daniel is an excellent choice for a nice dinner.
My mother actually just called and suggested Alain Ducasse to us so we're going to go there unless we find somewhere else that sounds better...thanks for the suggestions!!!!
I'll definitely keep Daniel in mind...sounds great.
