while unknown is good, you definitely need to have some known sutff in your portfolio too.

EXAMPLE:
last weekend i was at an audition for a professional summer theatre. after finishing my two contrasting pieces, the music director asked me if i had "matchmaker" from Fiddler on the Roof, or anything like it. I had "matchmaker". he was very happy. i hear back april 5th about casting decisions, but i'm optimistic.
