Andy Pettitte has signed with the Yankees for a 1-year, $16-million deal, pending a physical in ten days. I'm thrilled! It's going to be awesome having him back, at least until his arm snaps in two at the elbow in August.

Haha! I was just sayin' the same thing about Bonds in SF. Sixteen million is a lot to shell out to someone who's arthritic ass is warming the bench for half the season. (sorry - Bonds also got a sixteen million $$$ contract)

now, now, plum. you sound like my brother with the elbow stuff. he came on just fine at the end of last year. can't we pretend for a little while that he's going to pitch the whole year? one day? is that too much?

Hey, I'm very fond of the guy- he's our boy, you know? I really am glad he's back. Maybe this will be a good elbow year. And heaven knows he's an improvement on much what currently comprises the Yankee "rotation." I'm just laying out the worst possible scenario right way so I don't get surprised and disappointed later.

What, reflexive pessimism? I call it realism. Most people are waaaay too optimistic. They're probably more generally cheerful than I am, though.
