Anyone seen it? Original director Richard Donner was fired from the film when it was in production. The new version is much closer in style to the original Superman and all of the cheesy sight-gags and campy elements have been removed. All of Marlon Brando's scenes have been restored. SPOILER. I don't care for the ending, a re-hash of the original, where the rotation of the earth is reversed, so none of it happened.

Remember, Donner shot BOTH I and II at the same time. That ending was supposed to be for II. But since they didn't know if there would even BE a II at the time, they took that idea for the ending and used it for I. So if Donner had actually been allowed to do the films as he saw them, II would have had the "turning back of time" ending.

I think the Donner version is much better than the silly and tacky Lester version. Too bad, because if Donner had been left to helm we might have been spared the awfulness of Superman III. Lester's II opened the door for the tacky humor to permeate the series.

PEACE.
