today i was following a friend to a joint business appointment (separate cars as we were leaving the appointment separately). We arrived at the parking lot, and my friend pulls into a lovely SHADY spot (which means a lot in Texas at mid-day). There is another lovely SHADY spot right next to hers, but unfortunately there is also a pick-up truck in the spot on the other side of the vacant one; this person has pulled in at such an angle over the line that the truck is effectively taking up TWO spots. i park elsewhere, but i am admittedly frustrated.
i walk over to my friend's car so she and i can walk in together. As i near the badly parked truck, i realize it is still running, indicating someone might be inside. The windows are tinted.
i admit i was looking at the truck in some suspicion and hostility, but i was not aggressive nor demonstrative. As i near the space between the idling dark-tinted truck and my friend's car, the driver's window on the truck rolls down. A testosteronally enhanced muscular neck swivels toward me, and sunglasses tinted the black of the windows peer at me. The behemoth removes a tiny cell phone from near his cauliflower ear.
"You really shouldn't stare at vehicles like mine unless you want to start something."
It was difficult to tell whether this was a pick-up line or a warning. i reply:
"i was just wanting to park in the space next to you, but because of how you've parked, i couldn't, that's all."
Crew-cut Vin Deisel Wannabe:
"Well, you can get in a lot of trouble. i'm an undercover cop. i pulled in here because of a drug raid. You better watch yourself."
Without any discernable sarcasm (one hopes, for my own safety) i reply:
"Well good luck with your investigation."
And i walk away with my trembling female friend, who has witnessed the entire conversation. She is rather flustered. She keeps looking back at him despite my requests to leave it alone. She reports that he glares at us all the way to our destination of the parking lot's office building. i expected my car to be vandalized on my exit, but it is not, thank goodness.
DO YOU BUY THIS? would an undercover cop actually admit he was to a total stranger, thus "blowing his cover"? If he was in fact in midst of a drug bust, would he take the time to reprimand and warn a passerby to "watch himself"? Or do you think this was an ego in overdrive, though he was currently parked, however erratically?
Let me know. i'm really curious. My friend and i were divided in our opinions.

Will: They don't give out awards for helping people be gay... unless you count the Tonys.
"I guarantee that we'll have tough
times. I guarantee that at some point
one or both of us will want to get out.
But I also guarantee that if I don't
ask you to be mine, I'll regret it for
the rest of my life..."
