whatever--cripes! The big and key difference is that on South Beach--you don't count carbs, nor avoid them so much after the first two weeks.

JRB, those white russians, were they just in town visiting?

By the way, I would like to weigh in on this whole dieting craze...first of all, look up diet in the dictionary and you will see that it is your way of life in terms of eating. That's why it's important to craft a way of eating that is healthy. I am basically doing what JRB is doing and what Nina advocated, cutting out the refined sugars and flour (with some cheating; after all, it's hard to pass up that Dreamery ice cream sometimes!) with emphasis on lots of good protein and veggies.
I did Atkins early last year and easily (I do mean easily, it felt like something was not right!) lost about 30 pounds. Now, with decent eating, the occasional cheating, and a weekly exercise program, I am slowly changing my body shape as well as losing some weight. I would say that, above all else, go for moderation and just make sure you're exercising too.
