suggestions for an 18th birthday present

does anyone have any suggestions for what i could get my brother? he turns 18 on the 20th... i'd ask him but all he has said for the past 4 years is that he wants money. i want to get him something special since he's turning 18.
he really loves cars but i can't get him anything for his car beacuse he's getting ready to sell it. he also loves golf but i don't know the first thing about golf, so if there are any avid golfers here who have any suggestions, i'd love to hear them.
he also plays roller hockey, and likes anything to do with firefighting, but i still have no ides what to get him.
like i said i want it to be a special present, not just like a dvd or gift card...

If he plays golf well, can you afford to buy him a round of gold at a really nice course in your area? Sometimes green fees are pretty expensive. Otherwise, find out what kind of gold balls he uses, and perhaps get him some of those? There are a whole bunch of golf tools you can buy - some are for cleaning out the spikes, a lot depends on how good he is and what he already has.

Or, perhaps a DVD collection with Golf themes. Caddyshak, Tin Cup, The Legend of Bagger Vance, Happy Gilmore, and the recent Bobby Jones movie? Unless of course he already has all of these things.

he has most of those dvds...
like i said i dont know much about golf so i'll have to look into what the golf tools are and poke arounf in his bag to see if he has them.
i like the round of golf idea alot though... :)


i doubt the army would want him lol i can't picture him taking orders like that!

i got my brother something neat, i think, for his 18th bday. he also said he wanted money, so i got him two crisp $50 bills, but i stuck it inside of a very nice leather bound masculine looking blank journal with an out of the ordinary pen. in the card i told him he could use it to keep track of his life as an adult. kinda cheesy, but oh well.

that's kind of cool... my friend's grandmother did something kind of like that for his 18th... she got 100 crisp $1 bills all bound together from the bank and wrapped it up like a hershey bar and stuck it in the freezer.

If you are comfortable, ask one of his good friends what he needs or wants. Sometimes with older siblings that is kind of hard to do, but perhaps there is something he really wants that he does not have.

I also think that a nice leather wallet, with perhaps some coupons for the local driving range might be an idea. If he will use a leather wallet.

he actually has a really nice wallet...
he does loves going to the driving range though.
if money was not an issue, i'd get him a putter like happy gilmore's... you know the one with the hockey blde on the end? lol
