Posted: 8/17/05 at 1:08amThe city to me is any of the 5 boroughs (including the two that are on Long Island.) Just like "The Island" is Long Island (including Brooklyn and Queens) because I'm from "the Island."

As a non-New Yorker, I tend to think of it as Manhattan.
I happen to like New York...

As a NYer in suburbia, I consider any of the boroughs the city.
Then again, my friend from California, whenever I refer to "the city" thinks I am talking about Sacramento...

Posted: 8/17/05 at 4:17amI think of all 5 boroughs...HA, and I love this discussion of "the island" because I actually have heard someone call Manhattan "the island" and in my head I was, "excuse me? while Manhattan IS an island..."
