Pu-leeze, "Oscar special" my patoot. Yes, yes, George Clooney is a movie star with three nominations -- but he's a small piece of her un-special "special." More pointedly, she's promoting Patrick Dempsey (comback, via ABC series) and Matthew Mc (Disney employed actor, struggling to regain credibility as a star, without a hit in years). What a ludicrous stretch, shoving these people on camera in more ABC/Disney "synergy." You'd think she'd put her foot down and demand movie stars. Or not--maybe she just wants to look moonie in front of men who've recently had their teetch whitened.

But why not Rachel Weitz, or Keira, or Matt Dillon? Or Terrence Howard? Or ANYBODY. Whose year is this -- Patrick Dempsey's? McCaughnahey's?! For the first time, ever, I skipped it. Which is easy, because they haven't piggybagged the Oscar telecast itself. A new low.
