too late to start in college?

i really want to have a relatively successful career in musical theatre. but i dont know where to start. i am going to try out for the musical at my school this year. not expecting to get a part but i just want the experience. the drama teacher hates me cause i never got up for improvs in her class so i kinda screwed myself with that move. and she directs the community theatre around here too so that doesnt make anything better. i dont think im a terrible singer. i can hold a tune at least. unlike many of the people she casts in her shows. but is it really bad to rely on getting my training in college? oh, and she does the only acting lessons i know of in the area, centering around improvs! yeah. should i look into singing lessons now? any help please! and sorry if this is really long hah

best thing you can do is get your head out of your behind. you said you didn't work in her classes, right? well I doubt that she hates you but i bet she, and most of the other actors, think you're a bit of a screw up. prove them wrong, find a situation where you can redeem youself and you'll find youself in ok shape. as far as training in college goes? go for it, you've got nothing to lose. i mean you go to college to learn, right? so learn, get some experience, get some confidence, get off your hiney and have fun.

You can't be afraid to fall on your face in front of anyone if you want to be a performer. Yes get vocal instruction in some way. Taking classes in college is fine. I've taken both private and classes in school, they both compliment each other, and the more training and practice you can get the better. You have to show directors especially at the community level that you can work, so far you have not shown the director that in class.

okay thank you. yeah i havent shown them i can do anything besides the required monologues in class. but blindshine they dont really think im a screw up lol im friends with alot of them but i know what youre saying. thanks guys
