What is your favorite cd by them and why?
So........know one likes them?
I saw them and there cool, i'd be more enthuestic, but i was in horrible mood when i saw them.
hahaha. I am listening to their Christmas stuff right now and I am REALLY enjoying it. It sounds like Webber's Variations which I love to death and even the reviews on amazon.com compare them to Andrew Lloyd Webber with JCS and Variations and such. I must go and buy all of their cds now.

All of their Christmas stuff is good, Spider. Stay AWAY from their concept recording of a show called "Beethoven's Last Night". It has some greta intrumentals, but the whole thing is done with these AWFUL rock voices that I just cringe at the actual "plot" songs. The woman especially, ugh. The song "Vienna" isn't that bad, though, if they had had a better singer to do it.
They put on an over the top light show and Christmas extravaganza. I've seen them at the Beacon Theater in NYC the past two seasons. I've always loved a good light show, and they deliver.
That being said, I'd have to say that Beethoven's Last Night is my favorite. I believe they will be ready to perform it live sometime in 2005.
Woah! Conflicting opinions. Which to believe?

That one is your FAVORITE?!? IFLIT, explain yourself!!
I'm not sure I can make a coherent case for why I like it in terms of content or quality. What it comes down to, is that I like so sing along with some of the more complex numbers in the car. And the Flight of the Bumblebee makes me smile. Pretty shallow reasons, eh? But truthful.
I agree about the female vocals. I always skip them.

Totally with ya there.
I'm just glad you didn't say something like "I DID those vocals, you bastard!"
Yes, the Bumblebee one is great as is everytime they do the riff from the 9th symphony on the guitars. But, it doesn't justify getting the whole thing, IMO.
Sometimes the reason for liking a CD has just as much to do with the memories it evokes. Beethoven's Last Night does that for me. It reminds me of a good time.

I have the same thing with We Built This City by Starship. Horrible song, but I love it. I had the single when I was a kid. On LP.
I LOVE Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I'm actually going to see them this December...the 27th I think it is, at the Garden.
I don't have Beethoven's Last Night (yet...) but I do have the three Christmas CDs. I actually was listening to The Lost Christmas Eve on the train today.
I think of the three, my favorite one would have to be Christmas Eve and Other Stories. I like The Christmas Attic but I find that I have a hard time listening to it straight through. It's more as if there are certain songs on it that I like (Christmas Canon, The Snow Came Down) but I just don't like ALL of them. Whereas on Christmas Eve and Other Stories, while I have my favorites (A Star to Follow, Old City Bar, Ornament, O Come All Ye Faithful/O Holy Night), there really isn't anything on that CD that I ever want to hit "skip" on. For The Lost Christmas Eve, I don't know that one as well as the others but I'd have to put that in second place so far. I've only listened to it twice but I love, love, love Christmas Canon Rock even more than I liked Christmas Canon (I'm a sucker for Pachelbel.) However, like I said I have to listen to it some more to decide how much I can get into it but I found it thoroughly enjoyable so far.
Now, if you want to get specific and talk about songs, my favorites are:
Old City Bar
Christmas Cannon Rock
The Prince of Peace
Ornament
A Star to Follow
The Snow Came Down
* sigh *
Anyone else remember Savatage, the pseudo Euro-metal 80's band from which Transiberian was eventually spawned?

I do, John. That was my era, too. I stuck with Metallica and left the others behind.
Have you all seen there dvd?
I am probably going to pick on one of the Christmas albums today. Ooooo......I am so happy.
Yeah, Metallica sort of negated the entire 'Dungeons and Dragon' metal thing, anyway.
That being said, I can't help but break out a Helloween record from time to time.
And, Maiden is eternal, obviousy.
