so it seems clear from this article that the subject who provided the meat of the information upon which the gatorade bombers were foiled seems to have done so only after having "broken" under pakistani interrogation.
how do you feel about this?

Andrew Sullivan and others are questioning whether this really was a plot at all.

I'd be interested in the number of plotters who had passports. How could they even stage a dummy-run with no passports? And what bomb-making materials did they actually have? These seem like legitimate questions to me; the British authorities have produced no evidence so far. If the only evidence they have was from torturing someone in Pakistan, then they have nothing that can stand up in anything like a court. I wonder if this story is going to get more interesting. I wonder if Lieberman's defeat, the resilience of Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the emergence of a Hezbollah-style government in Iraq had any bearing on the decision by Bush and Blair to pre-empt the British police and order this alleged plot disabled. I wish I didn't find these questions popping into my head. But the alternative is to trust the Bush administration.

the funny thing is just a little bit ago folks were triumphantly declaring that bush had absolutely nothing to do with this and hadn't even been informed of it until after it had come off.

I am not Andrew Sullivan. But when he says "Bush administration" I believe that means Cheney and Rove, both of whom are quiet adept at hyping hysteria over shoe bombers for political effect, only to have the case lkater dropped for insufficient evidence..

I have less of a problem with torture than Andrew Sullivan, provided it's effective and kept quiet.

The thing I object to most about Cheney-sanctioned torture is that it was inept, promiscuous and ineffective. They tortured too many people who gave us bum information, and they trashed the reputation of the United States at the same time.

For that they all deserve impeachment.
