Just thought I'd post it here... I went searching the web for new voice teachers and found one who sounded halfway decent and cheap... well, he "talked" me into sending $15.00 to hold a studio WAY in advance and me like an idiot went ahead and did so... well, I got a message back from paypal with his policy and it was worded in a way that sounded like if you don't cancel within 48 hours you won't get a refund... well, something came up a WEEK a head a time and I emailed him.. he would not give me a refund and just refuses to give me back my $15.. i am very glad I did not pay him the entire amount... what a racket that is..if he has 7 students cancel he will make himself $105. I will not deal with someone as this teacher and thought I'd write this here. I don't want to post his studio name on here but, if you care to PM me I will gladly tell you to find someone else.

no offense...but why would you pick some random person whom you have never seen face to face and really gotten to know who they are and send them 15.00...im sorry...seems kinda strange to me...And honestly, there is no such thing as a "cheap" but good voice teacher. If you are good then your prices are gonnabe high. If you say you are good and your prices are really low then more than likely there are kinda crappy. Im not sayin people don't have good deals out there...just my thoughts...sorry bout the 15 bucks!

Be careful...there are people out there who will try to scam you out of your money. At least it was only $15, and not the full price...

If you are going to get a new voice teacher, do yourself a favor and find one that is recommeneded by someone you trust
and respect. Also, do meet with the person ahead of time and ask questions, get to know them, make sure it is someone you will be comfortable working with.

Most good voice teachers will want to do this anyway. They want to know if they will be able to work with you, if you are on the level that they teach, etc before they even take money from you.

I know one voice teacher who interviews potential students and makes them audition. he turns down a majority of them because theya re not at a high enough level for his teaching. He refers them to other very good teachers who specialize in beginners. That is the kind of person you want to be dealing with. Someone who takes the job of teaching seriously and has a solid reputation.
