so uk that thing that the doctors do when you get a physical and they press into your stomach and ask if it hurts? well my side started hurting on i think monday or tuesday and I told my mom and she said to not worry about it'll probably go away and it's still been hurting me today..anyone know what might be causing it to hurt? i have no idea..so i figured asking here is worth a shot.
Might be your appendix? If it's really bad, you should go to the emergency room.
is it on your left side? maybe appendicitis?

Right side is your appendix.
I had appendicitis this past Feb...NOT FUN!
If you are throwing up and the pain is horribly intense, you should get it checked out NOW!
Otherwise- it may be a sprain or something if you twisted the wrong way. Try ice or heat and it should feel better soon!
Yeah, I think if it was appendicitis, you'd be totally nauseous and in pain for days, or you'd have already gone to the ER.
It could very well be a hernia, which is a small tear in the lining of an organ. It causes pain and sometimes nausea, but often it's not painful enough to send you running to the ER. Get it checked out. It's a simple surgery to fix it, and you can go home the same day.
oh, yeah, i meant the other left

haha cturtle- I like my right left better than my left left
Not for nothin', but when someone asks for health advice (which IMO is sort of pointless on a theater board), it's just really not that helpful to speculate about an answer if you really don't know. It makes me crazy when people start throwing around diagnoses.
And to the person asking, be aware that some of the sage medical advice is likely to be coming from someone who just got home from middle school.

Oh, God that is very funny. So sadly true, but very funny.
hey, they asked, I answered. I don't think my post was riddled with medical expertise, and should not be taken as such. Just like all of my posts.
Why would that make you crazy?
My post wasn't especially directed at you, lildogs.
lol no i know...but i also know there are a lot of adults and i thought maybe someone would know. It's not in excrusiating pain, its just when i press into it, i guess i'll have to go to the doctor, i really dont want to though
.
Well, I know, but c'mon...there's way better things to go crazy over--of course, this might just be a question of semantics, in which case, craze on, girl! :)
I got my own lil pet peeve that i'll let you in on if you care, but why would you?
Always happy to hear about someone's pet peeves. (I have several...)
This particular one...about medical information...is based on the fact that work in the field of health care and have seen the damage that misinformation can do.
Hey, if you take medical advice from BWW, you deserve what ya get!
For the record, my parents are doctors, and I haven't been in middle school for MONTHS!
Lol.
I'm not really a doctor, but I play one on TV.
Maybe it's gas :) Try some Pepto
Believe me, doctors don't take ANY abdominal pain for granted. I went to the doctor with abdominal pain on 9/19 and she wouldn't even let me go home. I went directly to the hospital, was there, on an IV for a week, and then home on additional antibiotics for 3 weeks. I'm having my second CT scan tomorrow morning. Just don't take your pain for granted - GO TO THE DOCTOR!
By the way, my good friend in high school got sharp pains in her shoulder one night. Then the vomiting started. Her appendix had burst. The fact is, you can't always depend on the location to tell you what the trouble is!

'I have a festering, puss leaking sore on the end of my penis...'
Go to a doctor and ask them. That's why they went through med school.

you could be dehydrated. i had pain on my sides for a few days and the doctor said that i was just dehydrated. but... ASK A DOCTOR
"Yeah, I think if it was appendicitis, you'd be totally nauseous and in pain for days"
Not entirely true. I had appendicitis a couple of years ago and it only felt like cramps. I thought it was gastroentiritis, but the cramps remained constant. After a few days, I went to the doctor thinking I would get a prescription and that would be it, but after an exam, he sent me to the emergency room where it was discovered my appendix had already burst and I was rushed to surgery. The doctors were baffled because the pain was not intense and I had no fever or nausea. In fact, I was really hungry and wanted a cheeseburger. I had to get a full appendectomy and it took months to fully recover.
Now, if the pain is really in your side and feels almost like broken ribs, hurting when you breath, it could be pleurisy, which can be easily cured with antibiotics. But abdominal pain could be anything ranging from indigestion to parasites to hepatitis, so it should should not go unchecked. I don't want to sound fatalist, but if it lasts more than a day getting it checked out could only be beneficial. If it's nothing, then you can relax. If it's serious, they can catch it before it gets worse.
It hurts when I bang my head against the wall - like this!
*BANG!*
