shill
??/??l/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [shil] Show IPA Slang.
Use shill in a Sentence
?noun
1. a person who poses as a customer in order to decoy others into participating, as at a gambling house, auction, confidence game, etc.
2. a person who publicizes or praises something or someone for reasons of self-interest, personal profit, or friendship or loyalty.
People often confuse definition #2 for definition #1. Shilling your own show (#2) around here can be viewed as something to be condemned or something to be congratulated. It depends on the board's majority opinion of the individual poster. Sometimes spotting a #1 is very easy, but most of the time, a new enthusiastic member will be targeted as #1 simply because their naive opinion is not shared amongst the BWW majority.
It takes a while, but you'll get the hang of it. Or like me, you really won't care much one way or the other. One "OMG This show is awesome! Run and get tix now!" is pretty much like any other.

Thank you...
I didn't know things were so weird around here... or why writing that you saw that something has a webpage is shill but whatever.

Virtually anything can be defined as shilling around here. Good shills join the board and join in a variety of discussions before touting a specific show and could easily go on undetected. Bad shills mostly start their very first post with "Hey guys! I just saw this great show last night..."
But like I said, in the long run, it realy doesn't matter that much because anonymously shilling message boards isn't an effective marketing tool for theatre, anyway.

Shill - a mixture of cooked bran, oats and barley that has been cooled and blended into plain yogurt. It is eaten as a staple by mountain people in Moldova.
Meat and/or vegetables can be added to the basic shill for greater nutrition.
Efforts to commercially market shill have not been successful and it remains a regional dish.
Well, it could be...

My bad. I totally forgot about that. And it's not as if shilling is something new. If it weren't for the mass-mailing efforts of Laura Clairon's dresser, Show Boat would never have revolutionized the world of musical theatre.
Blind item: What internationally successful musical phenomenon attributes its success to its tireless team of emailing Assistant Stage Managers and has been SEEING GREEN ever since?

Dear me! I though "shill" was a reference to a Cole Porter song. You know:
"In the shill of the night..."
