where should I stay in Puerto Rico?

My partner and I are looking at a vacation in January and I wonder if anyone has a suggestion as to where we might stay in Puerto Rico. A gay friendly place would be ideal.

Or Puerto Vallarta? Suggestions?

Stayed at the Westin Rio Mar last summer and loved it. Only thing is, it's about a 30 min drive from San Juan, but you can rent a car really cheap and I'd recommend doing that anyway. Great rooms, really nice beach, and tons of excursions you can plan through the hotel. I know they offer lots of package deals too (that's how we went).
