I know a lot did during RENT, but what about Brokeback mountain??
unfortunately neither had previews that really explicit that it had a gay love story.

Really? I thought from the trailers in the movie theater that Brokeback Mountain was quite clearly a story about two men hooking up.

I have never demanded my money back for a film. With the exception of Little Secrets, I've never seen a film that completely pulled the wool over my eyes with its marketing and early reviews. (Secrets was described by some critics as an adults film about mature issues, but it was a children's film... which is just bizarre)

Yeah, anyone who was mislead by the Brokeback Mountain trailer probably have bigger things to worry about than getting their $10 back.

I thought the trailer was pretty clear.

Brokeback mountain and Rent are probably 2 movies that closed-minded people would want their money back!

the only thing i caught in the bb preview was the line that was something like "i'll never get you out of me" or something like that. it's not like they show men kissing in the preview.

i saw people demand their money back for rent, i wonder how that affects the box office.

It's "I wish I knew how to quit you" and seriously if the trailer saying "it was a friendship that became a secret", Jake and Heath undressing each other, "you don't go up there to fish", "you boys sure found a way to make the time pass up there", "this thing grabs a hold of us in the wrong place and we're dead" and the shot of Heath hugging Jake's shirt didn't tip you off that there might be the teensiest bit of man on man action in Brokeback Mountain, then I really don't know what to say.

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

We had one could walk out of the RENT....but that was it...I really think they didn't know there was going to be all that singing...cause they left right after the song RENT.

i worked in a movie theatre for 5 years, and we only gave refunds to people in the first 20 - 30 minutes of a movie. and we only did it then if people had an emergency and had to leave. i only remember one case of an elderly couple demanding their money back after seeing "serial mom." they stayed through almost the entire movie (with mere minutes left) and came out of the theatre crying about how sick and twisted it was. hello! you're going to see a john waters film. after a serial killer.

movie theatres don't have a money back guarantee and film producers don't guarantee you'll like the movie or give you your money back (with the exception of a recent marketing ploy with cinderella man).

i highly doubt many theatres, if any, give patrons money back if they've seen the whole movie. if that were the case, everyone would do it just because the ticket prices are so high.

for anyone who did get a refund, that amount would be deducted from the specific theatre's daily gross, but again any amount, if any, would be nominal.
